St. John & St. Benedict Parish Councils
Our parishes are separate by name, but together in mission.
Known as a "Parish Community" brings us together so meetings will be conducted together when needed.
Meeting of both Parish Councils will take place Monday, October 25th, 2010 @ St. John's School.

*Results from the parish council elections, held Sunday, June 13, 2010.*
St. Benedict had 27 parishioners vote and elected Diane Weckman for a 3-year term. St. John’s had 85 voters, with the results as follows:
Dave Gallagher 57 votes (elected to a 3-year term)
John Giesen 49 votes (elected to a 3-year term)
Steve Huebl 35 votes
Rich Novak 13 votes
Charlene Skluzacek 10 votes

Meeting of both parish councils took place on Monday, May 10th, 2010 at the St. John school.
Preparations for Parish Council Elections are in the works. Filing (volunteering) for those interested in wanting to be elected to either St. Benedict or St. John council MUST BE done by Sunday May 16th. Contact either parish council chair if interested. Names of those filing/to be on the ballot will come out on June 6th. Elections are to take place for both churches on Sunday June 13th.
St. Benedict has updated its Parish Council Bylaws. They will be available for viewing so they can be voted on to be approved. St. John will revise their Bylaws after elections are finished and council members can be part of the revision process.
Parish Trustees have been reappointed for both parishes. Their terms will run for 2 years.
A policy was discussed, voted on, and put into place for non-parishioners wanting to use our parishes' facilities for a wedding. Any couple not a member or with no parents in the parish of St. Benedict or St. John will be charged $150 for holding the date and celebrating a wedding at either church.
It has been set for general office or church materials/costs and the phone bill that it will be paid by alternating monthly between St. Benedict and St. John. This comes out to 6 payments by each church annually.
Deacon Bob gave an update from the Planning Process Meeting he attended. (A detailed timeline was given and can be viewed under the Archdiocean Planning Process tab at the upper left of this page.)
Financial reviews are being arranged for this July. These are usually done in conjunction with changing of pastoral leadership. Otherwise every 5 years is common these days.
Parishioner collection/donation envelopes discussed. There is no current need to print an annual box for all families. Current system of parishioners requesting them seems to work best, and this could be revisited in the future.
St. John's Church Yard cleaning is set for Wednesday May 19th. Starting after 5:30pm prayer service and finishes at dark. An alternate rain date will be Wednesday May 26th.
Combined Parish Council meetings will become every other month at this point. The next will be Monday July 12th, 2010.

The St. Benedict Parish Council Election will be held June 13th. Any parish member wishing to volunteer or nominate someone else should do so by May 16th.
