St. Ben's Schedule:

From St. Benedict's Latest Volunteer News:  8/22/10
SERVERS:  IF YOU CANNOT SERVE, PLEASE FIND A SUBSTITUTE.  YOU CAN ALSO CALL THE
SERVERS AT ST. JOHN'S IF NO ONE  IS AVAILABLE FROM ST. BEN'S.
IF YOU CANNOT FIND A SUB - PLEASE CALL DIANE WECKMAN  (952-758-3854)
ALSO,  PLEASE NOTE THE DATES COURTNEY IS SERVING.  IF YOU ARE ATTENDING A MASS WHERE COURTNEY WOLF IS SERVING, IT WOULD BE GREAT IF
YOU WOULD VOLUNTEER TO BE AN ADDITIONAL SERVER.
READERS: PLEASE MAKE SURE FATHER & DEACON BOB ARE SEATED BEFORE  BEGINNING THE
FIRST READING.
Also, if there are any announcements to be made, they will be on the podium with the petitions.  Please read them directly after reciting the Prayer for Vocations after communion.   I will either have a separate paper typed up or I will hi-light the item listed in the bulletin that should be read.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR VOLUNTEERING!!  IT REALLY IS APPRECIATED AND SHOWS THAT WE, AS A PARISH, TAKE PRIDE IN OUR CHURCH.

YOU MUST FIND A REPLACEMENT IF YOU'RE UNABLE TO ATTEND WHEN SCHEDULED

During these summer months everyone is much busier.

We still need to hold up to the responsibility of volunteering.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THOSE THAT HAVE WORKED DILIGENTLY TO FIND SUBS WHEN NEEDED!!!  This is not the most enjoyable thing to do but NEEDS to be done.  Never hesitate to contact Amy or Diane if you need help!  We are more than happy to be flexible around your upcoming schedules too!!

Servers:

Remember and please remind your parents to find a sub when you are not able to make your scheduled mass.  Parents need reminders too, its ok for you to help them with their reminders.

Let any 3rd or 3th graders know there will be server training sometime this coming school year.  If you ever know anyone that is interested in serving give them Amy’s name & number!  Amy Lemke  952-873-6850

PLEASE ADD to your master list:  Evan, Trenton, & Joseph Huebl   952-492-3635

Lectors:

Things are going great!!!  There have been scrambles once or twice but with such great, flexible people mass goes off without a hitch.  Thank you everyone, really!

PLEASE ADD to your master list:   Shelby Boehmke   952-250-5194

Eucharistic Ministers:

There is now hand sanitizer by the servers to use when you go up to hand out communion.  Don’t be afraid to use it.  In today’s age people have a sense of security when seeing us using the sanitizer.  Thanks for making this adjustment.  Also, RELAX!  Don’t be tense when going up to offer the Body of Christ to your fellow church goers!  If you have decided you prefer standing on one side or another just let the other person that you’re on the schedule with know if you’d like to go to a specific spot.  Deacon Bob may have discussed with you or asked you to go to a certain spot also – thank you for granting his wishes when he asks.

~ANY QUESTIONS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED~

Next thing we’ll know it’ll be the Advent season!!!  Enjoy the rest of summer and Ordinary Time.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO BOTH OUR PARISHES!!!

Servers:

There will be training again coming up next fall 2010/winter 2011.  If you know any other kids, 3rd grade or older, that would like to become a server share this information with them.

Lectoring:

Everyone MUST be reading out of the Lectionary.  This is a special blessed book to proclaim the readings during Holy Mass.  It is a big transition for most of us; please be considerate of Deacon Bob's requests to use the Lectionary.  This is the correct procedure for being a lector.  ANY questions are gladly received!!

Eucharistic Ministers:

Some questions have risen about how to stand or kneel or what to do when waiting to receive communion.  It is a custom to have the Eucharistic ministers stay standing.  You do not have to kneel when the priest is finishing the preparation of the Gifts.  Once again; any questions are well accepted!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR ENTIRE PARISHES!!!

Anyone can volunteer at ANY time.  Thank you again if you already have volunteered.  We were a little worried over how many yellow sheets from the back of the churches we would see back.
The turn out was tremendous!
Training is complete for now.
If you didn't get to a training Diane would like to go over the changes since we'll be adjusting to new ways of doing things during mass.  Please call her; we've noted who wasn't able to make it and may be in contact with you to get you the handout that were given.

Servers:
God bless the example you show to all children in our faith!
the basics:
Nothing has changed since your training.  You just need to talk with the visiting priests on how they would like you to do things during mass.  They are very friendly and appreciate your help!  Each priest may want to do things just slightly different.

Lectoring:
Please always arrive early to introduce yourself to the priest and ask him any ?'s you may have!
We all will be reading out of the Lectionary (big red book) during masses.
You can practice with a missalette.  ANY ?'s ask the preist or Deacon Bob.
the basics:
Go up to the podium 3 separate times during the mass.
1st reading, Responsorial Psalm, 2nd reading is done during the first time up.
Petitions are done the second time up.
Prayer for Vocations & announcements are done the last time up.

When to go up:
Readings:  After opening prayers (the priest will go to sit down)
Petitions:  After the Apostle's Creed (the priest will probably say something to this effect "now we bring forward or ask God to hear our petitions")
Prayer for Vocation & Announcements:  Father finishes up communion by putting the chalice in the tabernacle then sits down.  You want to be coming up by the time Father is sitting down.

Petitions will always be on the podium!  Prayer for Vocations is also always up there too in a plastic sleeve.  If there are any announcements there will be a bulletin on the podium with #'s by what you are to announce.

Eucharistic Ministers:
How very special it is for you to share the Body of Christ with parishioners!
the basics:
Go up to the alter during the Lamb of God, genuflect or bow in reverence.
If the priest gives you the host before he has consumed his - wait!  The priest must have his first.
When handing each parishioner the body, hold it to present it to them and proudly say/offer "the Body of Christ".  A person may never be denied if they have come forward in the communion line!
There are a few elderly people we want to give communion to also.  The visiting priests are not aware of them so at the end of the communion lines go to the handicapped people.
