We the Church "the bride" can no longer see or touch our loved one who has gone to be with our Bridegroom in the glory of Heaven. Let us remember and celebrate the love and life of a simple, God-loving man...
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH, 2010 WAS THE 10am CELEBRATION MASS FOR ST. JOHN AND ST. BENEDICT PARISHIONERS THANK YOU TO THOSE THAT HELPED, PRAYED, AND ENJOYED THE DAY!!! ************************************************************************************************ From bulletin 9/19/10 Next weekend is an occasion to celebrate a number of things. We will be celebrating and honoring the memory of Fr. Elgar, whose 94th birthday would have been this Wednesday, Sept 22nd. We will be blessing the community's prayer bench and meditation garden area in the cemetery. And, lastly, but most importantly, we will be celebrating the parish communities of St. John's and St. Benedict. As important and as integral Fr. Elgar was to the parish communities of St. John and St. Benedict for the past 43 years, Fr. Elgar did not embody within himself our parish communities. If he had, then our parishes would have collapsed on the occasion of his death. Fr. Elgar loved you all so much that he wanted you all to continue to grow and prosper as communities of faith, and, would have considered his life's work in vain had our communities died with him. We have, obviously, not gone away but are alive and vital. So, it is important that we not only celebrate and honor the memory of the pastor who shepherded us those many years, but, celebrate ourselves as communities of Catholic faith. I invite us all to join in the festivities following the 10 am Mass next Sunday, enjoy the potluck, and celebrate who we are as communities of faith. Take care, Deacon Bob ************************************************************************************************ HAPPY BIRTHDAY FATHER ELGAR! We miss you. Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." Phillipians 4:8
